Build it. Run it. Take it home. Our Cluster partners at the Medical University of Vienna’s Center for Biomedical Research and Translational Surgery invite you to a three-day, hands-on workshop where you’ll assemble your own bioprinter and learn high-resolution bioprinting. The printer you build is yours to keep, EU shipping included.

Over three intensive days, participants will learn how to transform a commercial FDM printer into the 3D Patternator.v6, a high-performance open-source bioprinter based on mechanical extrusion. Through a combination of expert lectures and hands-on sessions, the course covers every stage of the process: assembling the printer, preparing bioinks and support baths, designing and optimizing G-code, and printing complex objects both in air and in gel (FRESH printing). At the end of the workshop, each team will take home the 3D bioprinter they built.
The program runs daily from 9:00 to 17:00 at the MedUni Vienna Center for Biomedical Research and Translational Surgery. The participation fee is €3,850 per team (one printer and one participant), with the option to add a second team member for €750. The price includes all printer parts and materials, bioink for training, full instruction and support, catering for the three days, and a networking evening.
Applications are open until October 5, with a maximum of seven teams admitted. The course will take place if at least four teams are registered; accepted participants will be notified by October 14 and payment is due upon confirmation.
Interested teams are invited to apply directly by email to karl.schnieder@meduniwien.ac.at or vincent.fitzpatrick@tufts.edu.
