Pint of Science Austria 2021
Local research packed into three entertaining evenings – presented by the international festival Pint of Science. From May 17-19, 2021, scientists took the stage at the (virtual) bar next door.
In session 5 “Unser Körper aus dem Labor” Susanne Wolbank from LBI Trauma and Gregor Weisgrab from TU Vienna talked about tissue regeneration, regarding both the cell as well as the material aspect.
The session can be rewatched via the Pint of Science Youtube channel.
European Researchers Night 2020
The European Researchers’ Night is a mega event that takes place every year all over Europe and beyond. In 2020, due to COVID restrictions, the event was moved to an online format.
Sci4all (Science is for all of us) is Austria’s contribution to this event, which is co-organized by BOKU Vienna, together with the Practical Robotics Institute, Science Communications, Kinderbüro der Universität Wien and Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien.
BOKU Vienna and LBI Trauma took the opportunity to present their research live at the event. The talks can be revisited via the event’s official Youtube channel:
TU Vienna and Lithoz on Puls 4
Cluster members Stefan Baudis from TU Vienna and associate member Lithoz were featured in a TV report produced by Austrian TV channel Puls4.
Together they present and explain the great potential of 3D printing for generating individualized bone implants. As every case and patient is unique, 3D printed scaffolds are a game changer for bone tissue reconstruction. The Christian Doppler Laboratory for Advanced Polymers for Biomaterials and 3D Printing at TU Vienna is constantly working to further improve the photopolymers used to form the implants.
The video is part of the TV show Road to Digital Austria. It aired on multiple channels in November and December 2020 and is also available online via the Puls4 media library: https://www.puls4.com/cafepuls/Videos/beitraege/Grosse-Hoffnung-in-der-Medizin
