Congratulations to Stephan Winkler from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria on his recent habilitation!
In his thesis „Evolutionary Computation and Symbolic Regression in Scientific Modeling“, he uses symbolic regression to ultimately define interpretable formulae. In his own words: “It’s about identifying models to describe how critical target variables interact with other variables. Specifically, this means finding ways to predict certain critical parameters and to determine the influence of certain variables.”
His findings can be applied in various fields, from symbolic computation to bioinformatics and engineering.
