Strong Cluster Presence in the ViCEM Awards 2025 Finals – Register Now and Join Us Live!

On May 22, 2025, the final round of the ViCEM Best Thesis Awards will take place at TU Wien; and all finalists competing for the PhD award are members of the Cluster. In the diploma thesis finals, another talented early-career researcher from the Cluster will also take the stage. A remarkable success for our community, and a great occasion to celebrate these achievements together!

PhD Award Finalists:

  • Patrick Heimel (TU Wien & LBI Trauma): Contrast-enhanced µCT of peripheral nerve and spinal cord
  • Carina Hromada (TU Wien): Tissue engineering strategies to improve peripheral nerve regeneration
  • Erik Kornfellner (MedUni Wien & TU Wien): Biomechanics, design and tests of multimaterials for additively manufactured implants

Diploma Thesis Finalist:

  • Jo Schoup (TU Wien & MedUni Wien): Two-component redox initiation systems for bone adhesives

About ViCEM
ViCEM, the Vienna Center for Engineering in Medicine, is a joint initiative of TU Wien and the Medical University of Vienna, both key partners in the Cluster. The center is dedicated to fostering research at the interface of engineering and medicine, with a strong focus on interdisciplinary training and support for early-career researchers. Each year, the ViCEM Awards recognise outstanding theses that exemplify this mission.

Join us and experience Cluster research live!
The event is open to the public. Starting at 2:50 PM, finalists will present their projects, followed by evaluations and discussion by a jury of experts. The award ceremony begins at 5:45 PM. Everyone is warmly invited to attend and support the finalists in person.
